RULES AND REGULATIONS:
Food Service Rules and Regulations (511-6-1) Effective 11/1/2015, Revised 2/12/2025 to reflect changes as it relates to the adoption of 2022 FDA Food Code, to reflect changes as it relates to the authorization of mobile food service establishments from HB1443 from 12/12/24, to reflect changes to the definition of “Food Service Establishment” from SB 345, 9/17/18 to add a provision for “pop-up” restaurants, and 10/21/18 to reflect changes in catering operations to accommodate the motion picture industry.
The updated regulations are now in effect, and we want to ensure you are aware of the changes that may impact your food service establishment.

NEW FOOD SERVICES:
What do I need to do prior to opening a Food Service? (Including but not limited to the following):
Submit at least fourteen (14) days prior to beginning construction/remodeling:
- Food Service Application
- (Fee Schedule)
- Copy of Proposed Menu
- Set of plans for new establishments or kitchen diagram for existing establishments

- Verification of Residency – revised April 2014 (In accordance with the Georgia Department of Public Health, Alien Residency Verification Policy (Policy# GC-090008))
- **Please note, all individuals or corporations who obtain a permit (i.e. food service, swimming pools, body art) from DPH requires completion of secure and verifiable information to verify citizenship/immigration status.
