Sexually Transmitted Infections
Northwest Georgia Health Departments offer testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (often referred to as STD’s or STI’s).
There is a charge for testing and treatment.
Standard STD/STI testing includes testing for:
- Chlamydia
- Gonorrhea
- Syphilis
- HIV
- Herpes (visual exam – a culture will be ordered, if indicated. This test will be an additional fee)
- Genital Warts (visual exam)
- Trichomoniasis – (swab + microscopic exam)
To get more information regarding a specific STI, visit the Center for Disease website.
Treatment for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis and Trichomoniasis (antibiotics) is included in the standard STD fee. If needed, treatment for herpes (antivirals) will be called into a local pharmacy, and the patient will need to pay the pharmacy directly for those medications. Utilizing testing services aids in early detection and timely management of sexually transmitted infections.
